It has come to our attention that most of the audio and video clips on The Man Behind Almeida weren't working, because the site that hosts them is now storing them in a different location. So all of these links have now been updated. Unfortunately, we had to remove a few clips that came from outside sources, as the clips have been removed, but for the most part all but 2 of them are still there. Thank you to Sandra for bringing this to our attention.
Also, The Official Ira Gaines Fanlisting has had a facelift. It is now called Good Luck : The Official Ira Gaines Fanlisting, it has a new layout and new buttons. Check it out today!

I've been watching Boomtown and the first season of The Shield on DVD and came up with a whole bunch of cast sightings. Those have been updated on Cast Spotted Log, along with a few comments on each. Still no news on the official North American release date of the Season 3 DVD. Come on FOX, get your shit together! Your fans are going nutto. I've been working hard on the Season 2 Tony screencaps, but they are still a ways away from completion.
Rumours and articles are still abounding over the cast changes next season. So what of the future of AlmeidaIsGod.com? Well, we will always be AIG, because whether he is a major character next season or not, Tony Almeida will ALWAYS be god and that ain't gonna change. We are also still holding out the hope that the producers will see the horrible and blatant error of their ways and work things out. However, what I can say is that if 24 truly does see the departure of Tony and Michelle for good, I have to wonder how well a fifth season will be sustained, if that's what they're planning. I guess we'll see, but without Tony, I just don't know anymore.

OK, so my bored, button-lovin' ass is on a roll. I have revamped all of the buttons for Brothers In Arms, so Jack/Tony fans, take note! New buttons! Beautiful buttons! Don't forget to update your old ugly-ass buttons today! I have also revamped all of the buttons for foothill94022, so Milo fans, there is even more gorgeous Milo goodness to be found there! Not only that, but the beauty of Kim/Rick buttons have been elevated to the next level, as all buttons from Remain are revamped. And last but not least, Fakeyork was in desperate need of new buttons, and now he has them, over at A Fight With Your Wife. There is so much button love running rampant on this site, I don't even know what to do with it all.

Yes, that's right, the nominations for the 2004 Emmy Awards have been announced. This is the first year that AIG has been up and running for an Emmy broadcast, and that means all of you will have the privelage of enjoying our famous Emmy Rants! Matt can attest to the fact that my Emmy Rants are second to none. I am somewhat considering not watching the Emmys because of the whole Golden Globe phenomenon. When I don't watch, 24 wins. When I do, they lose. But I'll be really pissed if they win and I don't see it, so I think I will have to watch.
Without further ado, here is the complete list of 24's Emmy nominations and my personal comments and summary.
Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series: Debi Manwiller & Peggy Kennedy
This is a well deserved nomination. Because of the nature of 24, and the need for characters that span only a few episodes, casting is difficult. But 24 always manages to find excellent and often little known actors for these roles, and their performances rarely disappoint and are almost always memorable. The casting on 24 has been superb over the last three seasons and it would be great to see a win here.
Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series: Chris Willingham
Nominated for the 10AM-11AM episode (episode 22 - Jack and Tony trade Jane Saunders for Michelle and take down Stephen Saunders). The editing in 24 has always been superb, as we have known from the very beginning. The split screen editing, tight cuts and perfect camera shot choices make the aesthetic and are a huge part of why the show is as stylish and gripping as it is. If I recall correctly, this was one of the few categories that 24 won in last year, and it certainly has what it takes to win again. As a popculture aficionado who watches a lot of drama series, 24 has by far the most sophisticated editing style and the most challenging editing required of all the series on TV. It would be great to see Chris take this one home again.
Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore) : Sean Callery
Once again, the genius that is Sean Callery gets his well deserved nod in this category, a category he has won the last two years. This time he is nominated for the 6-7AM episode (Ryan Chappelle dies). I have to agree that the music in this episode was absolutely spectacular, and was noticeably one of the best episodes music-wise this season, in a series that consistently uses the immense talent of Callery to bring these stories to life and put them in our hearts. Simply put, Sean Callery is absolutely the most talented composer working in television today and I fully anticipate him to take the hat-trick and walk away with his third Emmy for his outstanding work on 24.
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series : Kiefer Sutherland
This nomination was pretty much a given. This is the third time Kiefer has been nominated in this category, but he has yet to win it. Obviously, we here at AIG want him to win, but I feel that last year, his performance in season 2 gave him his best shot at this award, as the broken man who resurrected himself. He will probably not win it this year. His performance was just as incredible, but it was just more subtle and less in your face. If he does win it this year, it will be a nod to his performance as Jack Bauer for the last three seasons as a whole, and the fact that he was completely robbed the last two years. Kiefer has continued to maintain his uncompromising portrayal of Jack Bauer and this season is no different. We wish him the best of luck. One last comment is that if Martin Sheen wins this category for the West Wing, I will PUKE!!!!! Seriously, I will vomit.
Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series : William Dotson, et al
To be perfectly honest, I don't know much about the craft of sound editing, but this nomination is hardly a surprise. When you look at all the different phone ringtones, the explosions, the gunfire, and everything else in between, I'm sure Dotson and his team more than earned it. Will probably lose to Alias, though.
Outstanding Single-Camera Sound Mixing for a Series: Michael Olman, Kenneth Kobett & Bill Gocke
See above.
Oustanding Stunt Coordination : Greg Barnett
Hell yes, the stunts on 24 kick ass. But the stunts on Alias also kick ass, so that will be some stiff competition.
Outstanding Drama Series: Joel Surnow, Howard Gordon, Robert Cochran, et al.
This is the third nomination for 24 in this category, but we have yet to win it. There is only one new contender in this category, Joan of Arcadia. The stiffest competition? CSI, The Sopranos and The West Wing. I would really like to see the Academy shake things up a bit this year and stop licking the West Wing's butthole. CSI is not deserving of this nomination. For its first two seasons, CSI was an Outstanding Drama Series. This season, it was a shadow of its former self and does not deserve to win. I haven't seen the most recent season of the Sopranos. I have heard it was good, but it is time for some new blood in this category and 24 has paid its dues. Season 3 was stellar and if we don't win in this category I will be really upset. However, if we have to lose, please let it be to the Sopranos and not the god damn West Wing. Rah rah patriotism is over and it's time for 24 to get its moment in the sun.
Some glaring omissions:
Carlos Bernard, for either the Lead Actor or Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category. Carlos and Kiefer really shared the stage this season, and Carlos's role was definitely just as meaty and just as important at Kiefer's. I would even go so far as to say that in terms of actual performance, Carlos upstaged Kiefer. In previous seasons, all of the high-rolling emotional stakes have fallen on Jack, but this season Tony's were in the forefront and it is a crime that Carlos was not acknowledged for his incredible, subtle, believable and complex performance this season. Given the ridiculous West Wing love fest in these categories, it makes it that much more of an aggregious oversight and insult.
Reiko Aylesworth in the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category. Aylesworth really came into her own this season, as did her character of Michelle, particularly during the part of the season where she was in the Chandler Plaza hotel and she and Tony didn't know if they would ever see each other again. Michelle was the heart of this season and overlooking Reiko for the likes of more West Wing lovin' just plain sucks. As a side note, Penny Johnson Jerald should have received a nod in this category last year, and though she did not have a large enough role this season to warrant a nomination, her work this year, particularly in the third act of the season, was outstanding.
Outstanding Direction for Drama Series. Either of Bryan Spicer or Jon Cassar could have and should have been nominated for their respective work on 24 this season, particularly Spicer, who's style and intimate knowledge of the Jack/Nina relationship that he explored in season 1 was resurrected this season during the stunning two episodes he directed, particularly 2-3AM (Nina returns to CTU). Spicer's episodes stand out as being the most true to the original stylistic vision of 24 established in the first season and really made fans feel at home. Shame on the Academy for not recognizing Spicer's immense talent.

Got a chance to check out the new show "The Jury" last night, from Barry Levinson/Tom Fontana, the creative minds who previously brought us "Homicide: Life on the Street" and "OZ." One of the cast of this new drama, which was actually pretty cool, is none other than our favourite homicidal rageaholic, Gary Matheson (BIlly Burke). He plays a slick lawyer district attorney dude. He wasn't in enough of the episode for me to see whether he is as good in this role as he was in that of Psycho-Dad, but either way, he will always be beloved Psycho-Dad to us. As such, Cast Spotted Log was updated.
I really need Season 3 to come out on DVD, simply so we have something to talk about here. I'm dying to see the deleted scenes from Season 3. I'm dying for more Carlos Bernard commentary on season 3!!!!! One of these days I'm actually going to get season 2 screencaps posted ha ha ha. OK, that's all for now, darlings. Almeida loves you all!
