Not a lot of activity going on here on the site during the summer hiatus, as you can see. Our hit counts have dropped off significantly since the season finale aired, which is understandable, but damn does it make us sad.
There have, however, been a few cast sightings as of late, and the Cast Spotted Log is now updated to reflect them. One of these sightings included Canadian actress Leslie Hope of Teri Bauer fame playing the mother of Andrew Leyshon-Hughes, who murdered his best friend Nancy Eaton in a fit of psychotic rage as she slept in her apartment and then raped her dying body. Hope's portrayal of Mrs. Leyshon-Hughes was quite poignant. I've watched an episode of two of Hope's new series "Line of Fire" where she plays an FBI agent, and have to say that I didn't see much of a difference in her performance there from her portrayal of Teri Bauer. But Hope managed to pull off this role very well. She was able to generate a feeling of empathy and struggle in this woman whose son was a monster beyond her control, but who tried everything to reach him.
In other news, the Canadian Federal Election was held last night. As expected, the Liberal party lost their majority, although they remained in power. All this election stuff got me thinking about the upcoming US Presidential Election. I think that anyone who can't bring themselves to vote for either Bush or Kerry (I personally desperately urge all of you to vote for Kerry, because I truly do not believe that the world as we know it will survive another 4 years of raging idiocy in the White House) should vote for a write in candidate: David Palmer! Sure, he's not real. But tell me that wouldn't be classic! All around the country, vote counters are forced to contend with a massive write-in campaign for David Palmer. Palmer for President!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I urge all 24 fans who absolutely cannot vote for Kerry or weren't going to vote at all to write in David Palmer and give our fan community some additional press! Tell your friends!

We have a new affiliate - Crazy For Carlos, a Yahoo Group. Thank you to Jen, the owner of Crazy For Carlos, for donating a scan of her autographed photo of Carlos Bernard to this site. The scan is available on our photos page.

Cast Spotted Log has been updated to include our most exciting sighting in awhile - YUSUF!!!!! We also have a new affiliate, the jam-packed Kiefer Sutherland fansite Forever Kiefer.
I also finally finished posting my photos from my trip to the UK. Just to show what a geek I am, here is a photo I took at a market stall in Harlow. The reason why I took this was because there is no such thing as an official 24 VHS release here in North America, and so when I saw the tapes sitting there, I had to snap a pic. Note how Kate Warner's presence on the spine of the tapes is conspicuously absent. It must be a sign.

Nothing To Be Sorry For : The Official Aaron Pierce Fanlisting is up and running (you all knew it was only a matter of time), but thefanlistings.org network is currently on hiatus due to server problems, so it won't be officially listed on the network until all this is resolved. Fortunately, that doesn't stop us from receiving or processing applications for it, so Pierce fans, bring it on!
Speaking of said recent article, the main subject of the article was none other than our beloved Carlos Bernard, and the article has been archived in The Man Behind Almeida.
So what of AIG during the hiatus? The LONG 7 MONTH hiatus. We plan to go on longer and stronger than ever. We have loads of top 24 lists to compile, and the 24 Season Two Ultimate Fan Commentary to look forward to in July, this time with a new participant, as Kat will be here as well. More fanlistings sites, even further analysis, as well as a likely renovation to the site's layout. New t-shirts, more poetry. Not to mention the top secret project we have in the works. We definitely plan to stick with the site all the way through to January 2005 in an effort to help curb our own severe withdrawal. We invite all of our regular readers to share our withdrawal pain and stick with AIG through the hiatus!

It seems that a few sample pages of the 24 comic book "One Shot" have been leaked and scans are available over at our excellent affiliate 24 Online. I know that when I saw the following cartoon rendering of my beloved dark angel, my appetite for this comic was well whetted.

Cast Spotted Log has been updated.
Here is something I don't get. WHY is the s3 DVD being released in the UK on July 26 but we here in North America have to wait until September. In fact, the official North American release date does not seem to have been announced yet. If anyone has info on this, please get in touch with us. Either way, it seems so unfair that we have been without a fix longer than our friends across the pond, but we don't get the DVD until several months after they do. Alas!

Cast Spotted Log is updated. I'm sorry things have been so boring around here lately. We'll have some more top lists coming soon, though!

Not much news to report. We've cleaned up our links page so it's not so overwhelming and our affiliate sites are more clearly differentiated from the other sites we run, as well as fanlistings we've joined.. We're still working on two more upcoming fanlistings and then this round of FL applications will all be completed.

I have just discovered this hilarious site called "FREE TONY." The "testimonials" and "letters from Tony" alone are priceless, as are the livejournal icons provided by the site webmaster. This is a brilliant site and is a site very much in the same spirit as our own. Almeida Is God fully endorses FREE TONY!
Here are some of the icons, for your (and our) amusement!

OK, here we go. I am on a full-fledged rant now. I am so sick of lazy so-called entertainment journalists and their constant reports of rumours as fact, setting off mass panic and fan frenzy. Here is a verbatim posting of a short snippet found on teenhollywood.com that suggests Elisha Cuthbert has officially quit the cast of 24 to concentrate on her movie career.
Elisha Cuthbert quits '24'
The blonde beauty - who has played Kiefer Sutherland's on-screen daughter, Kim Bauer, for three seasons - has revealed she will not star in the upcoming fourth seasons because she wants to concentrate on her movie career.
Elisha, who recently played a porn star in the movie 'The Girl Next Door', is not the only star to leave the cult show, which is set in 'real time' over an action-packed 24-hour day.
James Badge Dale, who plays Kim's boyfriend, Chase Edmunds, has been axed after just one season, along with Carlos Bernard and Reiko Aylesworth, who play husband and wife CTU agents Tony Almeida and Michelle Dessler.
Kiefer Sutherland is set to reprise his role as hero Jack Bauer in the fourth series.
OK, even IF this is true (and that's a BIG IF), so be it. If Elisha Cuthbert wants to abandon the series that made her a star to waste her enormous talent on B-List big screen teen sex comedies, that's her problem and her perogative. I personally think she's nutto if she does that. She's damn lucky to be where she is and to be working on the absolute top quality series on television. No money or massive big screen exposure or Maxim mag spreads can make up for the respect, credibility or critical success she gained while working on 24, and every serious role she ever gets in the future will owe a huge debt of gratitude to her astounding performance as Kim Bauer. It doesn't exactly come as a huge shock, though, given that producers have been quoted as saying Kim's role in the fourth season was likely to be reduced. We here at AIG think Kim is great and she will be greatly missed if her character does not return to the fourth season, but the article says "she will not star in the upcoming fourth season." It does not say that she will not appear at all, or that she will not guest star. So "quit" is a relative term. Furthermore, even if she doesn't return, although we adore Kim, the basis of what makes the show great will manage to survive that loss.
The bigger thing that pisses me off is the next to last paragrpah which states that James Badge Dale, Carlos Bernard and Reiko Aylesworth have "gotten the axe." Where is the source of this? From everything else I've read and seen up to this point, including directly from the mouth of writer Stephen Kronish, this has NOT been either confirmed or denied for a fact. The overall feeling from those involved with the show is simply "we don't know." Sure, their contracts as series regulars have not as of yet been renewed. As far as I can tell, the only person's contract as a series regular that HAS been confirmed for s4 is Kiefer Sutherland himself. This kind of lazy reporting and inflammatory overstatment really pisses me off. If I was the editor of one of these entertainment news sites, whoever was responsible for this incomplete, inaccurate, poorly researched and slanderous snippet of "news" would have their pink slip in their hand faster than Tony can say
"straight 2 Chappelle." I realize that Hollywood is a viper-pit full of phonies, wannabes and rumour-mongers, but is there absolutely no integrity left? I've had it with this whole "character and cast dumping" thing. Ultimately, there is very little we can do right now except piss, moan, speculate and try to let the people behind 24 know how much we love Carlos, Reiko and James, because we won't know anything for certain until season 4 begins. Reading these inflammatory articles are doing nothing but making me pissed off and and I've had enough of this shit.
I think Matt said it best when he said "The idea of a season of 24 without Tony and Michelle is just too ridiculous to even contemplate."
However, for readers who just can't get enough of this whole sordid issue, there is plenty of discussion going on over at the Inside-24 Fan Forum. I, for one, am spent!

Some good, some evil, some righteous and some definite snakes, their tenure on 24 may have been short, but it was oh so sweet.
